Brazilian Samba Takes Centre Stage at Paprocany’s Summer Dance Party

Brazilian rhythms arrive at Lake Paprocany as the popular Potańcówki na Papry series returns with an evening dedicated to samba.

The Potańcówki na Papry series continues this summer with an evening inspired by the music and dance traditions of Brazil. Taking place at the Paprocany Recreation Centre on 1 August, the free event invites visitors to discover the energy of Brazilian samba through live performances, dance instruction and open-air social dancing.

Organised as part of the popular summer dance programme, the evening is designed to welcome everyone, whether they are experienced dancers or simply looking for a different way to spend a summer evening by the lake.

Discover the Rhythm of Brazil

Few dances are as closely associated with their country as samba is with Brazil.

Developed from Afro-Brazilian traditions, samba is recognised for its fast-paced rhythms, expressive footwork and vibrant energy. It has become an international symbol of Brazilian culture and remains the defining dance of the world-famous Rio Carnival.

During the event, instructors from Dance Don't Wait Dance School will perform a samba demonstration before introducing participants to the dance's basic movements. The session is designed for beginners, making it easy for visitors to join in regardless of previous dance experience.

Dancing by the Lake

Each edition of the Potańcówki na Papry programme follows a simple format that encourages participation rather than observation.

The evening begins with a professional dance performance, followed by a short introductory lesson before everyone is invited onto the dance floor for a shared social dance. The relaxed atmosphere has made the series a popular fixture of the summer programme at Lake Paprocany, bringing together residents and visitors of all ages.

Set against the lakeside surroundings, the event offers a chance to enjoy music, movement and community in one of Tychy's best-known recreational areas.
